Zen Temple

Shisendō Temple (詩仙堂) is a historic Zen temple in Kyoto, known for its beautiful gardens and tranquil atmosphere. Founded in 1641 by Ishikawa Jōzan, a retired samurai, scholar, and poet, Shisendō is dedicated to the appreciation of poetry and the literary arts. The name “Shisendō” translates to “Hall of the Immortal Poets,” reflecting its purpose as a retreat for scholars. For a long time I wanted to find a way to express what people feel when spend time in such garden. This is not necessary a zen posture, however, this person was experiencing a moment of serenity and this is to me the best example of what zen is.
