Wood carving of John Muir

The naturalist John Muir was a leading voice in environmentalism and the creation of national parks. He visited and stayed in Sequoia National Park. This wood carving was carved in 1989 by artist R.L. Blair, and it sits by the side of CA-198 along with other beautiful wood carvings. It's a wonderful piece of Americana art as well as a nod to the history of the national park system.
