Wheat Processing

Women workers process wheat in a mill in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. As wheat is the second most important staple food crop after rice in Bangladesh, there is an increasing demand for it. Wheat production in Bangladesh goes through a few basic stages. In the pre-production stage, the seeds are selected by the farmers based on their yield and varieties followed by harvesting leading to transportation and storage. Then, the imported wheat is brought in and kept in the warehouses. After that, the wheat is processed in mills in various ways one of which is to filter out the dirt using a large wooden filter. Finally, the finished product is transported to the market for sale.
