Aurora in my location is not common. This past year has been very good with the solar maximum approaching. This particular night the aurora was forecast to be strong. I set out to this location hoping it would cooperate and I would be able to get an image close to what was in my mind. Luckily, the aurora did cooperate but only for a few minutes. This was a challenging image to capture as it is a self-portrait. I set up my camera timer to shoot repeatedly and walked as carefully and quickly as possible along this slippery cliff on the water's edge, trying to get as close to the edge of the cliff as possible. I then had to freeze as still as possible on the edge of the cliff in a strong wind as this was a 25-second exposure. I was really happy to be able to capture this image to tell the story of the environment and the awe of such a beautiful moment in time and an amazing display of our natural world.
