Western Welcome Week is the annual celebration of Western culture and heritage in Littleton, CO in mid-August. 2024 marked its 96th year of a week full of activities that culminated with a Grand Parade. The Western Welcome Week of Littleton, Colorado had an interesting start. In 1928, the Littleton Independent newspaper was holding a celebration in honor of its 40th year in the press. This led the editor of the Independent, Houstoun Waring, to organize an event marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Littleton’s founder Richard Little. Today the tradition continues. My image captured the Littleton City Council wagon in the Grand Parade. It is small town America at its best!
