Watching You

A male bobcat guards a deer carcass at the base of a cliff just above the Firehole River in Yellowstone's interior. The deer had fallen off the edge of the canyon wall days earlier. Many felt the bobcat had chased the deer off the edge, because there were two depressions in the snow below the rock face. If the cat fell too, then he cashed in one of his nine lives to survive. In this photo, he is keeping a watchful eye on ravens circling above the carcass site.
