Virgen de El Panecillo on the Top of the Hill, Quito City, Ecuador
A view from the charming streets in the historic area of Quito City in Ecuador. The statue, Virgen de El Panecillo, on the top of the hill is the tallest aluminum statue in the world. It is also the world’s tallest winged representation of the Virgin Mary. It is visible from almost everywhere in the city. Quito was founded in the 16th century and has the best-preserved, least-altered historic center in Latin America. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
