Palythoa mutuki is a species of colonial zoanthid, often referred to as soft coral, found in intertidal zones and shallow marine habitats such as Mumbai's intertidal. It forms dense, mat-like colonies and is known for its vibrant colors and bioluminescent properties under UV light. This species plays a significant ecological role by providing habitat and protection for small marine organisms. Palythoa mutuki is resilient to environmental changes, but its habitats are increasingly threatened by coastal development and pollution, highlighting the need for conservation efforts.
