During the summer of 2021, numerous major wildfires burned across the American West, causing smoke to accumulate in the mountain valleys of northwest Wyoming. I photographed this osprey against the smoky sky as it collected nesting materials. Although the photo appears to be a sepia print, this is a standard color image.
