Trains of Ijtema (1)
Biswa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim religious convention in the world, attracts throngs of pilgrims from all over Bangladesh - and the world. Bangladesh railways cannot possibly cope with such a tremendous amount of passengers, and on the key dates of Ijtema, trains run incredibly overcrowded, with people clinging to the sides, sitting on the roofs, and squeezing between carriages. Boarding these trains often involves climbing or dangerous leaps.
