The Vicuña

In Laguna Colorada, a shallow salt lake in the southwest of the altiplano of Bolivia, is possible to see the Vicuña.The animals are the smallest members of the camel family and the wool is the finest and rarest natural fiber in the world. In 1965 the vicuña population was endangered. Trade of high-value vicuña products has effectively reduced poaching, human-wildlife conflict and rangeland degradation.
