The Temple at Naggar Castle

The Naggar Castle is a magnificent historical structure made of stone and wood. It is at Kullu in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. The castle was built by Raja Sidhi Singh in 1460 AD in an impressive combination of European and Himalayan architecture. The picture shown here is of Jagatipatt Temple housed in Naggar castle’s open courtyard. There is an interesting legend that says that the stone slab in the temple here was carried by honeybees that were an incarnation of all the deities. The Jagatipatt Temple commands respect among locals and in case of any natural calamities like earthquakes, people from nearby villages gather here to discuss the course of action. They also collectively perform rituals and offerings to the gods in the Jagatipatt Temple.
