THE ROOF OF AFRICA
Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and the world's tallest free-standing mountain, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is also the highest volcano in the Eastern Hemisphere and the fourth most topographically prominent peak on Earth. This mountain offers a unique combination of climates. At its base, it is surrounded by tropical rainforests, transitioning to savanna, then desert, and finally culminating in ice at the summit. Kilimanjaro is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World due to its remarkable presence in the tropics, where one can find ice at such elevations.
