The town of Charm is located in Holmes County, Ohio, home to one of the largest Amish populations in the US, estimated at 40,000. I moved to central Ohio in late 2023 and was interested to visit Holmes County to observe and photograph the Amish lifestyle. The first Amish buggy that I saw was on a two-lane road driving into Charm, and I got the idea to photograph one with a slow shutter speed to capture the motion. This composition provided good light and with a motionless farmhouse in the background a shutter speed of 1/40th per second displayed the motion I was looking for.
