The Eagle Hunter
Kusbegilik, or "eagle hunting," is a revered tradition in Central Asia, especially in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. This ancient practice, primarily involving golden eagles, remains a vital cultural heritage symbolizing a deep connection with nature. Dating back two millennia, eagle hunting in Kyrgyzstan provided food, furs, and showcased skill and bravery. Passed down through generations, it is a source of pride, with eagle hunters, or "berkutchi," holding respected status. Training begins by capturing a young female eagle, forming a strong bond over years.
