The crayfish and the snake
Forested rivers, wetlands, springs, and ponds are very common in Florida with many trees along the riverbanks. These dense plant communities provide shelter and food for many aquatic and terrestrial animals. Snorkeling in the crystal-clear water of a freshwater spring amid the forest, I suddenly spotted an interesting crayfish between the rocks. After taking a few photos, I took a split-shot to capture some of the forested habitat above the freshwater spring. Only then did I realize that somebody else was nearby, resting on the trunk, and watching me all that time…
