Sundarbans is known to host 6 species of kingfishers and collard kingfisher is one of them. I had spotted this kingfisher from way back who was perched on a branch and was probably waiting to capture its next meal and instructed my boatman to go as slow as possible because I did not want to scare away the kingfisher. He did his best and when we were close enough, he switched off the engines and the boat slowly drifted towards the kingfisher. It was stationary and did not move much which gave me the opportunity to take this shot. This image was taken in Sundarbans National Park which is within the Indian Borders in the calendar year 2021.
