The cavernous church
The cavernous church of Saint Anne was a hermitage located on Mount Louloudaki near the village of Avdou in Crete. From the church of Saint Anne begins a wide path to the cave of Saint Photini which was a hiding place during the Cretan Revolution. Today, the church of Saint Anne and the cave of Saint Photini are easily accessible and famous enough to Cretans. Many people go there either for worship or as ordinary visitors. The square located next to the church hosts a big festival on the fourth Sunday after Easter.
