Recently I've been fascinated by trees. their vastness, their eminent physique. bounded to earth they stretch their limbs and reach for the heavens, forever defying gravity. there's this scene in the film “Phenomenon” starring John Travolta, where he is transfixed by the top of the trees swaying in the wind, he then starts rocking his chair to that rhythm - he moves with the trees. that scene mesmerized me as a child, I think it captures within it some harmonious essence of an experience I could not better describe with words, as a child I related to it. Perhaps it's a primal thing, but for me trees have this healing quality about them. when I look at the trees I often enter this meditative state, it makes me feel reassured, makes me feel at ease, makes me feel at home.
