Sunday Afternoon in the Boston Public Garden
The swan boats first arrived in the Boston Public Garden in 1877. These are the original boats. A photograph from that time would undoubtedly have shown only white people in the seats and lounging on the grass. The current scene reveals a wider range of races and ethnicities.
