22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Still-Life on Marine Ecology

This still life work aims to raise awareness about the global issue of marine environmental protection.During the creation process, I incorporated on-site images of discarded items such as plastic water bottles, beverage cans, yogurt containers, and fishing nets found on the beach into indoor still life compositions through post-processing. Crabs and shrimp entangled in fishing nets, casually abandoned among muddy beach debris... This interplay of time and space infuses the images with a touch of absurdity and strangeness. Through these scene, the artist hopes to raise awareness and contemplation on the importance of protecting the marine ecological environment. It calls on us to take practical actions, starting from ourselves, to protect our marine habitats and create a green and environmentally-friendly ocean home.
