Shorting from rubbish
Children sift through mountains of rubbish searching for anything reusable or recyclable they can sell, although it will earn them less than $4 to $7 a day. Many childen gather each morning at the landfill site, where an average of 6,000 tonnes of solid waste are dumped every day. The workers sort through the 40 hectare area and the mountains of rubbish, which can reach 200ft (60m) in height, looking for anything that can be sold. Around 100 people go to the landfill in Chittagong, Bangladesh, to collect anything of selling value like metal, plastic, polythene, paper and old toys.
