Shattered Highway

The Dead Sea water level is decreasing at a high rate due to evaporation and water diversion for agriculture. One result is numerous sinkholes and pits as well as collapsing ground under buildings and roads. The image shows highway 90 near Ein Gedi on the dead Sea coast, which was shattered and had to be closed and abandoned.
