Severely malnourished Haawo is strengthening in a stabilization center

Haawo Abass was told to take her son, Abdelnasr, to the centre by medics at Luglow mobile clinic. Abdelnasr, who is 16 months old, suffers from kwashiorkor, also called protein malnutrition, which is a severe form of malnutrition. It causes a skin condition that can lead to pigmentary changes. In Somalia, the worst drought in 40 years is affecting millions of people. Cattle has died, farmlands dried out completely, people displaced and children have gone hungry.
