Anchored on the Mozambique Channel at the height of the Tropic of Capricorn, the Bazaruto archipelago is an ecological paradise. Of an absolute virginity recognized in 1971 by the WWF are the result of a civil war that for decades isolated the country and its islands away from the madding crowd, reducing three million and two hundred thousand souls to hunger and despair. But if today the inhabitants of the mainland survive on two euro a day more or less, the thousand fishermen of the archipelago, comfortably scattered in the islands of Benguerra, Magaruque, Bazaruto, Bengue and Santa Carolina, have not even heard of the conflict. They have always had something to eat, fishing or working for the game-lodges which at most, every week, host forty customers: English, Americans and some Italians.
