Sandhill Cranes at sunrise
Here is a large flock of Sandhill Cranes at sunrise on the Platte River just before take-off. During their migration the cranes stopover on the Platte River for a month then continue northward. Overnight they stand in huge groups in the shallow river, then at sunrise they fly to nearby fields to eat leftover grain and corn.
