Rotifer Synchaeta sp - freshwater microorganism
Synchaeta sp is a rotifer found in freshwater ponds. Rotifers are multicellular animals that provide food for larger pond organisms. They are about 0.5 mm in size. Many use small hair-like stuctures to swim that appear to rotate in the water for which they are named. This species was photographed with light microscope using a combination of polarized and darkfield illumination. 200X.
