SERIES I is the first photography series from the ongoing project titled Photographic Experiments. Project is focused on the control dynamic between the author and the observer in which uncertainty can be viewed as an openness of a work (in this case - a photograph). As a visual artist, I view my field of control through the visual construction of an image, but the aspect of obscurity allows viewers to have a certain amount of authority over the photograph by incorporating their own personal material and making it familiar. I am quite interested in that tolerant space of control existing on both sides – the photographer’s work on one, and active viewers on the other. Deprived of an initial and clear context, the photographs provoke a certain amount of projection thus functioning similarly to Rorschach inkblots. Through uncertainty, I am exploring the tension that mainly highlights concepts of authority, aggression, and fear.
