Owl close eyes

While we were driving back to the rest camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier park late one afternoon, we saw this spotted eagle owl sitting in the ground behind an Acacia tree. We parked our car next to a very relaxed owl. It was a hot afternoon and when it is so hot, the owls tend to come down from the trees and sit on the ground to cool down a bit. The setting sun was just above the dunes and we saw that only one eye of the owl was in the last sunlight while the owl rested in the shadow. The owl looked at me through the two branches of a tree towards us in the vehicle. So I capture this curious look of the one eye of the owl.
