22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Of an Indigenous Sea Tribe

Inspired by indigenous head wear, the artist modified his underwater image of exposed radioles of a marine tube worm to suggest the headgear of a marine tribe. The worm's radioles are VERY sensitive to movement, sound, and light requiring the photographer to avoid any disturbance to the creature while making this macro photograph at 45 feet deep.
