Norbie in the Afternoon Sun

My friend MKS lives in the Sierra Nevada foothills about an hour from me. She has ten horses, including little Norbie, a six-month old colt. Norbie is the sweetest horse – friendly, curious and gentle. I first met him two days after he was born and return periodically to visit him (and MKS) and take photos. On this last visit in the fall, Norbie and Uncle Murphy (a white Palomino who watches over the babies) were walking through the pasture. The sun was setting to the west, reflecting on the fence and Norbie. I love this photo as it evokes peaceful, rural California – a horse, sunlight, grass and oak trees.
