The USS North Carolina battleship, also known as BB-55, is moored across the river from downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. A restored World War II battleship, it is now a National Historic Landmark was the first vessel of its type built for the US Navy. Now a memorial and museum, the battleship host many events throughout the year. This November, a new lighting system was installed and made its debut on November 8, kicking off Veteran’s Day weekend with a “Light the Legacy” ceremony which included a lighting sequence show, big band music, and commemorative binoculars for those purchasing tickets to the battleship tours. This shot was taken facing the stern with the ship and stern contrasting beautifully with the night sky.
