20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Navajo Dreamland
Experiencing Monument Valley up close and personal was so cool - I love the uniqueness of southwestern landscapes and the people who’ve called them home across the generations. Seeing the change brought to the landscape by the summer monsoons made it feel even more special, and I couldn’t hop out of the car fast enough to shoot this reflection in a puddle that seemed to dry up with every passing second. The resulting images don’t seem of this world, but something out of the mind of some abstract artist’s dreams.
