My Teammate Colleen

This photograph is of one of my teammates, Colleen. I wanted this photo to capture my admiration and respect for her. She is an athlete who gives constant effort, and she creates a leadership role on the team that no one can help but gravitate towards. At practice she took a ground ball to the face, and though I saw it happen, I had no idea she was truly injured until later that practice. She suffered a blow to the face, yet immediately asked for another rep. She felt no need for a pause for attention, but rather she showed me perseverance. I look at her and know that she has faced hardships that I could not imagine experiencing myself, yet handles them with grace, and the "next rep" mentality. She is the very essence of taking the curve balls life may throw, and embracing the challenges as life continues on so why overly bask in a brief moment of hardship, whether it be internally or externally. My teammate Colleen has been the very essence of a true teammate and friend, and does so with the utmost grace and resilience, and after writing this, I'm still not sure if that is able to be captured in a single portrait. But I genuinely enjoyed to try.
