A view to the west from the top of Sam Knob in the Shining Rock Wilderness of Western North Carolina on the evening of October 26, 2023. Clouds moved through dynamically, allowing rapidly changing light conditions. They lifted from the horizon momentarily, showing the receding mountains of the Middle Prong Wilderness receding to the west, showered in golden light of the setting sun.
