I'd been trekking with my scouts group on the Friulan Dolomites in Italy when we reached the refuge near the "Campanile della Val Montanaia", a breathtaking rock formation resembling a belfry. Right in front of this 'belfry' is this solitary red mountain refuge, surrounded on all sides by the rugged and imposing sea of rock that are the Dolomites. I took this picture thinking it would be interesting not to capture the main landmark, so the "belfry" but what people don't pay so much attention to: the surrounding peaks.
