22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Monkey brothers in Lohagad Fort

Monkeys are always fun characters. Unless they’re sleeping, they’re usually in a super-active mode. However, these two were different; they were utterly calm and composed compared to their more notorious pals. While I was photographing the first monkey, the other one quietly approached to join in. The scene beautifully captured nature, with dark clouds looming above, lush greenery on the mountains, and monkeys perched on the wet stone walls of an 11th-century fort.
