Mating frenzy
Right after the first showers of monsoon I got a chance to observe males of common Indian toads gathering around a seasonal stream which almost had no flow of water. Without any hesitation they were cracking to attract the females, ignoring my presence completely. In this highly competitive situation usually the louder males get a chance to mate with a mature female individual. Here is an image of what happens once the female is attracted towards a male toad who is not strong enough. Multiple males try to mate with the female while wrestling with other males forming a ball like structure.
