Male Rufous Hummingbird against the sunset

Male hummingbirds are fiercely territorial and will chase away most birds that approach 'their' feeder. Rufous hummingbirds in our area are dominant and can push out other species. This male had a favorite perch where it sat, and it stayed there (except when chasing other birds or feeding) all day until it was nearly dark, well past sunset.
