21st Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Macbeth

While visiting the Joshua Tree National Forest, I spotted this scene that looked like it was straight out of a Shakespearean play (the death of Duncan in Macbeth). Each one of the Joshua trees have so much character and personality, like actors and actresses on a stage, that it was easy to see their roles and imagine the drama that was about to take place.
