The livelihood of the Maasai lies in the cattle they own. Goats, sheep, cows. Since they don’t raise crops, the domestic animals are their support system. They use everything from the animal if they need to kill it. It is the family treasure. Animals are rarely sold, the cattle just exchanges hands during marriages. A very hard job, considering that the neighbors are lions, leopards, hyena clans and so on. Yet, they manage.
