22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Lunch time
We stayed 6 hours at the foot of the tree where this magnificent female leopard was installed, in the hope that she would leave her branch. Her prey, a Thomson gazelle, was on a branch next to her. She would eat and come back to lie down on her branch, look at us and fall asleep when she woke up she would look at us again. It was a moment of privileged contact with this animal, a true beauty of nature.
