I love the adaptability and resourcefulness of the Red-Shouldered Hawk in the St. Louis area. This bird of prey prefers hunting on the edges of my town or in one city park where mice scamper in wide open spaces. But on this January day, he was alertly resting (and is perfectly focused) as vehicles charge through the busiest intersection in town.
