The narrow streets of Tokyo's Shibuya neighborhood were a cacophony of color and noise as the annual Halloween festivities took place. Working my way through the narrow alleys and crowds, filled with all manner of wizards, monsters and ghouls, my were drawn to a wash of bright pink down a dark side street. I hastily weaved my way towards this group of women in matching outfits and balaclavas to try to grab a photo, using the crowd as my cover until I could get close enough with my wide 14-mm lens. I raised the camera to my eye, the flash in an outstretched hand, when suddenly the central figure caught sight of me, pink-nailed fingers pushing her lollipop into her lips, staring right down into the lens as I pressed the shutter button.
