18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Leap

What makes someone feel the urge to jump for what they want? Do they know they are capable of it? Hiking up to the peak of Old Rag in Shenandoah National Park, the crowds surpass numbers I have ever seen so my photography partner and I do what we do best. We go and visit the remote parts of the rocks atop the under pass where there feels more peace. Here we question our abilities in everything and realize leap is often like most things in life. The moment you give up is the moment you fall.
