18th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Harlem Untitled
Another freezing day, my first time photographing Harlem. Early in the morning, cold as hell, nobody outside. Exiting the subway and walking down the street, the park was empty except for this guy. Playing by himself, I had gloves on but they were mostly thin cotton, didn't do much of a job to keep my hand warm. I couldn't believe he was shooting the ball, with nothing on his hands. Only took a handful of images, didn't speak to him. Left after 5-6 minutes.
