After heating up custom made machete (for his customer) in a forge, the blacksmith whipped out his hammer to work on the metal before it started to cool down. Although he may not be muscular but he sure did pound hard on that heated metal. On that sunny day and the heat from the forged metal blade probably complicated and contributed to his demeanor.
