Great Spangled Fritillary Butterflies
The Great Spangled Fritillary (Family Nymphalidae) is found throughout Wisconsin from late June through August and into early September. I shot this of the two butterflies sharing and pollinating a Red Clover along the side of our driveway, late afternoon on 7/23/2021. With wings to travel, they fly quickly from one wildflower to another and often are seen in wooded areas or along road sides where there are wildflowers growing.
