22nd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Artistic
Flame Streaks
The Full Moon Fire Jam is an event that happens every full moon during the summer months, filled with artists, drum circles, and the main event – fire dancers! It’s grown a lot in the past few years to draw hundreds of spectators, and it’s always a treat to see the talented performers play with fire. This single exposure was made by starting a long-exposure of one performer, and then at the last second of the shutter being open, panning quickly across the field of other performers to get streaks of their fire across the frame.
