Doing street photography in Havana when I noted a man pushing his fist in the air to some friends on the side of the street. He was walking, however, in front of a painted piece of graffiti that can be seen all over Havana, “2 + 2 = 5.” The calculation means a lot to the Cubans who, when asked why there are so many contradictions in Cuban life, reply, “Cuba? It’s complicated.”
